A new generation Z – the people who were born after 1996 – is entering the labor market.
How did the environment affect Gen Z?
The main element shaping the behavior of people from a given generation is the environment in which these people are brought up.
Gen Z experienced the economic crisis, which peaked in 2008-2009. In addition, they observed and observe negative changes in the global climate caused by aggressive exploitation of natural energy resources and nature by humans. The consequence of this is the energy crisis, because we have less sources of non-renewable energy and we are not ready to fully use renewable energy ones.
It is also the first generation fully brought up on the Internet and mobile phones so one could say that total communication and access to information lies with this generation.
What are Gen Zs
Growing in the world of flood of information, Gen Zs developed the skills to sort the info that is valuable for them. The speed of information has led to the choice of a form of communication to more pictorial using Instagram, YouTube or Snapchat.
People from Gen Z are hard-working, multitasking and innovative and want to work in areas that are the most passionate about them. This generation that thinks globally and of great value is for them to care for the environment – the nature or society.
The trend is also changing when it comes to the form of employment – more than 50% of Gen Zs wants to work on their own in projects that interest them, that is innovative interesting, supportive problems of the “world”. Some of them are so-called Influencers who, via YouTube, Instagram or Snapchat, will act by influencing others.
For employers, this is good news and bad news – on the one hand, Gen Zs are creative, hardworking and multitasking people, and on the other, wanting to work often changing projects that will affect business or society.
In addition, employers must prepare for a modern form of education. Gen Zs expect inspirational e-learning courses that can be performed at any time of day or night and fast transitions to new projects.
If we meet these needs as employers, we can get innovative employees that will inspire changes in the organizations.
